Coco was rescued from Bowe Auction O'Dwyer's Horses and listed as needing immediate attention. We contacted a local Bowie vet and arranged for them to take Coco in and then rescued Coco from the auction. After a detailed discussion with the local vet on Coco's options and being told by a Bowie local that Coco was not ready to give up, DJean told the vet to start treatment. After a long isolation for a severe strangles infection, the vet then removed Coco's cancerous eye. Once Coco is done with her rehab, we will transport her home to Tecate. Coco is now here in Tecate, however she seems to be wary of people. She wants to approach but hesitates... we will take it slowly with her to build her confidence. September 25th - Coco let Shannon approach and actually let her brush her mane. Great strides! January 2023 - Coco was introduced to pasture with eight others. March 11th, 2023 - Coco was humanely euthanized at a local vet because her intestines had twisted with no prognosis of recovery. She will be missed....
