Mike and DJ Osborne purchased 98.9 acres in Tecate California in 2017.  their initial plan was to build a home for themselves and Dr. Kim Osborne, Mike's sister.  This would be the perfect place for the four horses that they owned at the time.  Obviously things changed from there.  Mike, DJ and DJ's mother Jean Founded Tecate Horse Rescue July of 2022.

Pat Hutchins was raised on a farm in Texas and has a special place in her heart for animals. All the horses she saw and worked with were loved and cared for. We also had a pair of mules named Alfred and Agnes which were true pets. 
When I learned from D’Jean of the horses who were being treated cruelly, uncared for, starved and loaded in trucks and sent to be slaughtered I was appalled and immediately wanted to do all I could to help. 
It has been a real blessing to see the many horses brought to Tecate Horse Rescue with unimaginable evidence of neglect, mistreatment and illness. The care and treatment they receive and later the training is simply amazing. 
I am pleased to be a part of this haven for horses as they fully recover and move on to forever homes.
