Adoption: Hera is available for adoption as a companion animal only. Adoption Fee: $1600.00 for both Hera and Zeus (both companions) Hera halters, ties, ground ties, trailers, picks up feet, bathes and grooms (companion only and paired with Zeus).
Hera was rescued at Bowie Livestock Auction in September 2022, she was a "direct shipment" bonded with a mule "Zeus" going to go directly to slaughter. They were both rescued by another organization, however the home designated for Zeus and Hera was found to be inappropriate. Upon request we took both in then took to a nearby rescue ranch to gain weight and do their quarantine before coming to Tecate Horse Rescue. We believe Hera is hard of seeing and uses Zeus as her seeing eye companion.
